Issuing Authority and Validity
Passport services in Timor-Leste are administered by government agencies responsible for civil identification and immigration matters. A passport remains the property of the state and may be used only by the person to whom it was issued.
For adult citizens, passports are generally issued with a validity period of five years. Passports for minors may be issued with a shorter validity depending on administrative rules. As with most travel documents, renewing before expiry is advisable, especially because many countries require at least six months of remaining validity.
